Gloucestershire Resident’s flood guide offers advice about potential emergency situations we could face in the event of flooding.
The Flood Online reporting tool allows property owners, flood risk authorities and volunteers to share details of flood reports and observations to assist with flood risk planning.
If there is flooding on a highway, you can report it to Gloucestershire Highways on 08000 514 514
Flooding from public sewers: Severn Trent Water on 0800 783 4444
Flooding from private sewers or private drains: homeowner will need to engage a drainage contractor and/or contact Severn Trent (see above)
For flooding caused by land drainage problems or minor water courses it depends on the situation:
a) if it’s the person’s own land they need to engage a contractor to remove the blockage
b) If it’s from someone else’s land they need to contact the landowner or report it to the Flooding Incident Line, 0300 2000 100.
c) If properties are flooded or are at risk of flooding call Laurence King, the FoDDC flooding lead, on 07775 663 074.
d) If the flooding results in homelessness, call the Gloucestershire County Council Adult Care emergency team on 01452 614 194.
Sand bags can be purchased from most builders’ merchants; alternatively, compost / growbags and plastic bags full of soil are very effective.
